When I finally decided to start writing about my journey, my career, and my perspective, I had no idea where to start, or if people would even be interested in the same things that I am. Then, I attended the Sports Lawyers Association Conference in Denver, Colorado in May of 2017, and was overwhelmed with the close-knit feel of the sports industry. As a first-year attendee with Tulane Law School’s green banner hanging on my small blazer pin, I quickly realized that this is where I belong, that I was set up for success with the Sports Law Program at Tulane, and that the network I would make from this single weekend was only the start of my professional career. Since then, I decided that this journey could be memorialized for myself as well as others.

The room was filled with lawyers, agents, media, press, general counsels, coaches, team managers, the commissioners of every big league, men, women, races and ethnicities of all kinds, and of course, the advent of eSports and its technological advancing platforms in the realm of sport.

The options for careers within sports were suddenly…limitless. What I thought was a niche career proved to be so true and so wrong all at the same time. I came in wanting to be a “sports lawyer” to then being told that there is no such thing, and that in reality all these people who hold my dream position are just “lawyers” who work IN sports.
